Key Information
The first step is simply to make contact. You are welcome to reach out by email or phone - there is no obligation at this stage, and no expectation that you will have everything figured out before we speak.Once you’ve been in touch, we’ll discuss arranging an initial session. This may be through email or, if you would find it helpful, a brief telephone conversation. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and for me to get a sense of what has brought you to therapy. From there, if it feels right for both of us, we will arrange an initial session.
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet in person and begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. It is also an opportunity for us both to get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There is no commitment required beyond the initial session. If you decide you would like to continue, we will agree a regular weekly time and begin working together on an open-ended basis.
Duration: 50 minutesFrequency: Weekly. Regular weekly sessions provide consistency and continuity, which is an important part of the therapeutic process.Format: One-to-one, in personLocation: The Practice Rooms, central BathLength of therapy: Open-ended. There is no fixed number of sessions or predetermined end date. Therapy continues for as long as it is useful to you. When you feel ready to end, we will work towards a considered ending together - this is an important part of the process and is handled thoughtfully.
Standard session fee: £50 per 50-minute session, payable in cash at the session or online before.Low-cost places: A limited number of lower-cost spaces are available for those on low incomes or whose circumstances make the standard fee difficult to manage. These spaces are subject to availability and agreed at the outset. If cost is a concern, please do still get in touch.
To help maintain a regular therapeutic space, I ask for three weeks’ notice if you need to cancel a session. If circumstances mean you need to cancel with less notice, I will do my best to find another appointment that week if I have availability. Where this isn’t possible, the session fee will still apply.I will always give as much notice as possible if I need to cancel or rearrange a session. In such cases, no charge will be made.
Everything discussed in sessions is strictly confidential. I will not share information about you or our work together with any third party without your explicit consent, with the following exceptions:Where there is a serious and credible risk to your life or the life of another personWhere I am legally required to disclose information (which is rare)As part of my professional practice, I attend regular clinical supervision. Supervision is an ethical requirement of professional practice and is in place to protect you as a client.
I am a humanistic, integrative psychotherapist. This means I do not work from a single fixed model or predetermined framework. Instead, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches - including person-centred, humanistic, and relational methods - to meet the needs of the individual in front of me.The foundation of the work is the therapeutic relationship: a consistent, confidential space in which it becomes possible to explore what has previously felt too difficult to look at clearly. There is no agenda, and no expectation that you will arrive with your thoughts in order.
I work with adults aged 18 and over across a wide range of difficulties and concerns, including:BereavementDepression TraumaAnxietyAbuseIdentitySelf-esteemRelationship difficultiesEmotional crisisMenopause and hormonal changeIf what you are experiencing is not listed here, please still get in touch. Many people come to therapy without a clear sense of what the problem is - only that something needs to change.
